Butterwick Trees CIC is a social enterprise involved with training, tree growing and the community.
This year over 50 people will achieve a professional City and Guilds qualification in horticulture. The training
includes: sports turf, fruit and vegetable growing, and of course, tree and shrub production.
People undertaking community service orders with the probation service visit the nursery on a regular basis,
helping with all the tree growing and conservation tasks. Training is offered to help them progress to further
education and employment. We link up with colleges and training agencies to help people achieve more with their
lives.
School group visits are regular features at the nursery, we help teachers and pupils enhance their appreciation
of all aspects of trees and the environment. Free tree starter packs are given to participating schools, so that
the children can grow their own trees. Low cost and free trees are also given to local schools.
Community interest companies (CIC) are a new type of limited company designed specifically for those wishing to
operate for the benefit of the community rather than for the benefit of the owners of the company, you can get more
